As one example, the initiative's National Student Support Accelerator is a project begun in response to the pandemic and addressing the learning and emotional needs of students. It has expanded into a research, strategic advising and engagement program aimed at increasing students' access to the individualized supports they need to thrive.
What You'll Do:
The Senior Research Associate takes the lead in developing and leading key research projects. This
position requires independent work as well as collaboration with the education policy initiative team. The Senior Research Associate leads data collection and analysis efforts, develops research designs, manages research associates, writes and/or proofreads academic papers, reports, presentations, and grant proposals and reports. Serve as expert advisor to faculty and staff and have a large role in program/entity strategy development, long range planning, and partnership development.
Core duties will include:
Lead and oversee development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs. Oversee analysis, reporting, and program improvements. Oversee the adherence to, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
Manages the research process including the development and completion of data use agreements, institutional review board documents, contracts, and memoranda of understanding, and the appropriate receipt, storage and destruction of restricted use data.
Disseminates research, engages stakeholders who could benefit from the findings, and produces tools to facilitate the use of research findings.
Represents the entity or program to the broader university, external community, and other stakeholders.
Assists Principal Investigator in defining research objectives and timelines, and proactively manages the changes in work scope.
Develops outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships and fundraising/funding. Identify external funding opportunities and write proposals and research grants.
Manages layout, content, and design of academic presentations and other dissemination material. Presents research information to varying audiences. Writes reports and recommendations. Participates in the strategic dissemination of all research products.
Mentors research associates, undergraduate and graduate students on the team.
What You'll Bring:
Education & Experience
Advanced degree in education, policy, economics, sociology, psychology, or a related field and five years of relevant experience in education or social policy research. PhD, 2-3 years of research experience post PhD, and experience working in research-practice partnerships preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expert level knowledge and skills in field of science related to research project.
Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
Ability to oversee and direct staff.
Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Quantitative methods skills including experimental and quasi-experimental approaches
Data analysis skills
Ability to manage research projects including producing grant proposals
Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing the general nature and scope of the job or level of responsibility. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.
The expected pay range for this position is $126,000 to $150,000 per annum.

on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of
the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and
external market pay for comparable jobs.
