Job Summary

Responsible for branch library service point operations, student assistant supervision, and Access Services user support. Ensures efficient and welcoming circulation services at Hillyer Art Library and across libraries service points in the Public Services department.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Essential Functions

Service Point Coordinator: (45%)

Direct the daily circulation and service point operations of Hillyer Art Library service point in collaboration with the Visual Arts Librarian and Access Services Librarian; ensure service coverage; document and implement library policies and procedures; assess, analyze and revise circulation services and procedures. Know and use all facets of the libraries' online circulation system; handle overdues, billing, and search for missing items. Coordinate interlibrary loan activities for Hillyer (paging/processing requests) and communicate with interlibrary loan in Neilson. Monitor and report access, security, safety, and maintenance issues for library buildings and coordinate with campus facilities and safety to formulate a response when necessary.

Student Assistant Supervision: (25%)

Supervise a minimum of 20 student assistants to staff library service point. Hire, schedule, train, direct and address performance issues. Uses institutional systems for student management and coordination of student assistants (Workday, Moodle and Outlook etc.).

Access Services User Support: (30%)

Provide circulation assistance in support of faculty and students in their use of library collections and resources. Provide general support and back-up for print and electronic course reserves. Provide basic reference services, library orientation, host events and training for groups and individuals. Maintain a basic knowledge of related services and libraries (e.g., acquisitions, cataloging, branches, Neilson). Participate in the Access Services group and attend meetings, planning sessions, and committees/working groups. Periodically perform duties at other library branch locations or may need to work evenings or weekends on occasion. Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; supervisory experience required; customer service experience required; library experience strongly preferred.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; problem solving and analytical skills; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to organize and prioritize work effectively. Ability to deal with people of all backgrounds and to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with office technology and familiarity with library software.
