Overview The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Science at Utah State University invites applications for a Lecturer beginning as early as fall semester 2023. This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position at the Logan campus. The role assignment for this position is: 90% teaching and 10% service. Preferred applicants will have already obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Applicants with an MS degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry and significant university level teaching experience may also be considered. Teaching duties will include teaching general chemistry and organic chemistry courses as well as organic chemistry teaching laboratories during the academic year. Serving on assigned department and College of Science committees is also expected. Applicants should be able to provide evidence of proficiency in teaching, the ability to serve as a mentor and advisor to students, undergraduate and graduate student teaching assistants, and the ability to work productively and cooperatively with colleagues. Responsibilities Teaching duties will include teaching general chemistry courses, organic chemistry courses, and organic chemistry teaching laboratories during the academic year. Department lecturers also serve on assigned department committees and may also serve on College of Science committees.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
MS in chemistry or biochemistry coupled with significant university level chemistry teaching experience.
Ability to teach effectively in undergraduate general chemistry and organic chemistry classes as well as organic chemistry teaching laboratories.
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
PhD in chemistry or biochemistry.
Previous teaching experience at the university level
