The Strategic Partnership Advisor to Pre-Med & Pre-Health (PMPH) Advising contributes to university-wide efforts in advising current students and alumni pursuing a professional education in medicine (allopathic and osteopathic), dentistry, optometry, podiatric medicine, veterinary medicine, and as physician assistants, among other pre-med/pre-health fields. Responsible for providing strategic guidance to the Northeastern PMPH Advising Program that positions students as distinguished applicants for admission to professional schools, creating opportunity to influence the academic and experiential learning opportunities that enable students to successfully transition into professional programs.
The Northeastern Pre-Med & Pre-Health Advising Program assists students as they navigate professional program requirements and pursue experiences relevant to their career goals. The Special Advisor will work with and provide guidance for program staff to recruit students into the advising program, develop and implement a series of workshops, presentations, and special events, maintain a website which provides access to on-line resources, a calendar of events, advise/mentor students in their application processes/packets and more, provide advising services to students and opportunities for networking among students and Northeastern graduates who are current medical and healthcare students and professionals, and build and leverage networks to secure experiential learning opportunities for students.
Provide vision and strategic guidance to the Northeastern Pre-Med & Pre-Health Advising Program to: deepen mentorship and student access through formation and oversight of an external consortium of professionals in the medical and health sciences; increase the visibility of the Northeastern's profile by expanding affiliations with medical schools; and contribute to the University's recruitment and retention of high talent students by identifying and developing new student support and experiential learning opportunities.
This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Teaching and Learning. Work requires occasional evenings and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Master's degree with six to eight years of progressive experience in leadership, management, and supervision of a team. PhD, MD or other clinical background is desirable.
Must have extensive knowledge of pre-med and pre-health advising and/or the medical school admissions process.
Ability to build connections and networks to increase experiential learning opportunities for our students.
Individual must work well in a fast-paced environment and have excellent time-management skills.
Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to work well with diverse groups of people and have excellent interpersonal skills.
An entrepreneurial spirit is strongly encouraged.
The ability to be innovative and execute responsibilities without supervision.
Individual must be able to work as an integral member of a team, demonstrate leadership qualities and have the skills and knowledge to manage a project.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships is essential to the position.

Develop and maintain a strategic vision for the incorporation of clinical practitioners and health professionals as part of the Pre-med & Pre-Health Advising program.
Build consortium of medical and health professionals to be incorporated in the programming, mentoring, and advising of the program
Leverage clinical and practical expertise to cultivate strategic partnerships in order to:
Increase visibility of Northeastern's profile to medical schools
Build affiliations with strategically identified medical schools
Collaborate with Pre-Med & Pre-Health Advising team, internal university partners, and colleges leadership on advising and mentoring practices/activities.
