ABOUTTHEPOSITIONANDTHEDEPARTMENT This position exists to provide administrative management and leadership for the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), which currently includes the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Vacuum Technology, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, and Engineering. The position is in the Academic Affairs Division of the college, serves on the Deans' Council and Administrative Council, and reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The STEM Dean participates in short- and long-range planning, identifies and addresses problems, and works to establish and maintain productive, collegial, and professional working relationships with the college community and college partners in the service area. The incumbent will have a thorough understanding of budgeting, supervision, faculty support, evaluation, and post-secondary education, as well as a broad understanding of the academic disciplines represented in the division. We value candidates who support a student-ready philosophy, promote opportunities of teaching and learning in the STEM field, and are dedicated to the community college mission.
Additionally, the Dean of STEM coordinates and leads the division's efforts in support of the college's strategic framework, which includes ambitious goals to: 1) achieve racial equity in educational outcomes by 2025; 2) achieve associate degree or baccalaureate transfer completion rate of 50% or better for degree-seeking students by 2030; and 3) support and sustain a pervasive institutional culture that is culturally competent and service oriented.

The following qualifications are required to move forward your candidacy; as such, ensure your application contains descriptions of your work experience sufficient to demonstrate competency in each of the following:
Education: Master's degree or higher in a discipline within or related to the STEM division from an accredited institution
Type and Length of Experience: Five years of undergraduate higher education teaching experience in a STEM related discipline. Evidence of academic leadership roles and responsibilities within or in addition to teaching experience that demonstrates progressive job growth experience. Successful track record of advancing equity and inclusion initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred
Education: Doctorate degree in a STEM related discipline or in education or leadership from an accredited institution
Type and Length of Experience: Additional years (over and above the initial 5 years) of experience in academic leadership positions with a successful track record in previous positions.
