Assists with recruiting, evaluating, and admission of veteran scholars.
Provides high quality career advising to veteran undergraduate students and recent alumni seeking summer, term-time, and full-time employment, research, and advanced degree opportunities. This includes providing regular one-on-one career advising sessions in various formats such as scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and electronic/virtual support and communication.
Maintains regular schedule of one-on-one advising appointments and provides additional advising hours during busiest times of the academic year.
Stewards donors and philanthropic partners to help financially support the veterans programs.
Collaborates with campus partners in Academic Advising, Housing, Health & Wellness, First Generation Student Support and Financial Aid to coordinate and develop services tailored to this student population.
Coordinates with Academic Advising and academic departments to assist veteran students in developing and maintaining faculty mentor relationships.
Oversees various other high priority projects/programs and reports to senior level stakeholders on these projects.
Meets with internal recruiting team on a regular basis regarding hiring trends and opportunities as they relate to veteran students. Meets with recruiters on an occasional basis to discuss recruiting strategies and hiring needs. Tracks and reports placement information of veteran students as part of larger placement tracking efforts.
Partners with industry, regional, or functional student groups to assist in planning and delivering veteran related programming.
Analyzes markets and trends as they relate to job searches.
Designs plans to increase brand awareness and alumni engagement as it relates to the College's admissions in the relevant region. Develops relationships with high schools and school counselors in the area. Plans and attends yield events, information sessions, and college fairs.
Expands outreach messaging via alumni clubs and special events and/or reunions. Maintains updated alumni contact records and cultivates new contacts in appropriate industries. Manages portfolio of prospective students that require special handling.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Military service, or previous experience working with veterans.
Working with College students in a diverse student body.
Expertise in counseling, program development, or a related area.
Experience developing and implementing a successful communication strategy for marketing programs, recruiting volunteers, and/or liaising with student groups. Â
Experience in developing and implementing programming including workshops.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to master database programs and shared scheduling system and learn new technologies.
Knowledge of career development theory and strong coaching or counseling skills.
Preferred Competencies
Deep commitment to customer service and multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated success in maintaining collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies.
Working Conditions
Work evenings, occasional weeknight and weekend days as needed.
