DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Jacobs School Chief Corporate Relations Officer, the incumbent identifies, pursues, executes, and stewards funded collaborative research opportunities and partnerships for the Jacobs School of Engineering faculty and programs, and the Dean's Agile Research Centers and Institutes of Excellence. Negotiate corporate investment and ensure funds are secured with the goal of establishing multiple partnerships with an annual cumulative goal of securing $1,000,000 in investment. The incumbent maintains a portfolio of Agile industrial partners, with the goal of increasing corporate investment in funded research, talent programs and experiential education programs at the Jacobs School.
The incumbent is responsible for recruiting members and negotiating industry investments in support of the Dean's Agile Research Centers and Institutes (involving multiple schools and departments across campus), and Dean's Initiatives such as the Corporate Affiliates Program's Veteran Forge Pilot (a Jacobs School effort to attract, retain, and matriculate a vibrant veteran student population in STEM fields, within the government and defense industry and beyond), as assigned. Responsible for initiating, maintaining and expanding partnerships by devising strategic collaboration plans between Industry partners and the Jacobs School. Manages business development functions, contributes to branding/marketing messages and plans agendas for industry visits and research reviews to drive and sustain corporate investment in our campus.

QUALIFICATIONS
Deep understanding of faculty and programmatic research interests within the University. Understanding of partnership agreements, patent law, licensing and commercialization. Broad knowledge about University and industry research pertaining to specific industry alliance program.
Skilled communicator: includes verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Ability to use discretion and respect confidentiality. Ability to break down complex concepts and communicate them in an understandable way.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, faculty, donors, and industry partners, with an emphasis on collaboration, tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion. Ability to work with a diverse group at all levels of the organization including faculty, staff, students and industry partners. Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation.
Advanced organizational and project management skills. Ability to lead a team, prioritize personal and team tasks and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Productive in work volume, speed, quality and consistency. Ability to see projects through to completion on deadline and satisfy industry partner and University goals.
Proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Takes initiative. Skill in project management, including event planning. Industry experience as a project manager, business development or marketing manager, customer service or sales manager or other high technology industry team manager.
Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in the Microsoft Suite. Advanced knowledge of software applications specific to industry alliance programs. Ability to teach others.
Ability to break down complex concepts and tailor communication to industry partner unique needs and interests.
Proven experience in the full spectrum of business development of corporate partners including critical analysis, management of academic/corporate relationships, recruitment for membership, sponsorship of special events.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement persuasive recruitment ideas and techniques for prospects and donors, incorporating these into oral and written presentations.
Proficient knowledge of undergraduate, graduate and executive engineering and/or educational programs.
