Wellness and Student Mental Health Clinician: Senior Academic Counselor; SOAR; 37.5 hours per week; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; Pay grade 6; grant funded.
The Wellness and Student Mental Health Clinician is responsible for serving the mental health needs of SOAR students: counseling services, mental health/wellness outreach, and educational programs. The successful candidate will be an experienced generalist clinician with established clinical skills and outreach experience serving a diverse population.
Position supervised by the Director of SOAR Program
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivers culturally informed clinical assessments, crisis management, brief, and solution-focused individual counseling, off-campus referral, and consultations consistent with national standards of best practice.
Uses evidence-based practices to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate Mental Health and Wellness programming and workshops offered to SOAR students and, periodically, to faculty and staff that cover a wide range of topics. Including but not limited to student academic adjustment, psychological wellness, and crisis management.
Uses evidence-based practices to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate discussion-based support groups for SOAR students on a variety of topics.
Complete and maintain electronic medical documentation in a timely and accurate manner and according to Federal, State, and office guidelines
Offer assistance and resolve challenges by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions to aid with persistence and overcoming barriers to retention.
Serve as a liaison to faculty, staff, and community members in response to student needs.
Responsible for working cross-functionally with other teams, building collaborative relationships, and other special projects, as necessary.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree in Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Either be a Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Massachusetts.
10 years experience that includes psychological counseling, psycho-therapy services, crisis intervention, social work, and personal computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Demonstrated competence in providing clinical services to a diverse client population with complex mental health needs.
Demonstrated competence in psychotherapy, training, psychoeducational program planning, and clinical documentation utilizing an electronic medical record.
Highly effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Counseling experience in a higher education setting.
Experience working in a community college.
Suicide assessment, intervention, and prevention skills.
Proficiency with short-term psychotherapy models.
Familiarity with diverse populations including but not limited to LGBTQ, Asian, African and African American, Caribbean, Latinx, Biracial, International, Immigrant, and DACA students.
Knowledge of health insurance and social services in Massachusetts.
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:
SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $64,615.00 to $69,615.00 annually; pay grade 6. Includes a complete fringe benefit package such as competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
