Job Purpose:
Oversee the college counseling department,
Implement a successful, comprehensive, mission driven college counseling program
The main responsibilities will include:
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide guidance, develop, and evaluate college counseling department and counseling administrative assistant
Plan and facilitate weekly department meetings
Assign advisees to counselors
Manage annual performance review process in a timely manner
Manage employee performance concerns in a timely manner/partner with Human Resources department
Develop and oversee the onboarding program for new department members
Department Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of the school profile
Plan and coordinate information necessary for sophomore and junior conferences
Establish and communicate a timeline for the college search and application process
Coordinate counseling calendar
Oversee content on the Counseling portions of mySAA and the main website
Oversee the development of all college counseling programming for both students and parents
Manage department budget and place orders for various department resources
Keep, analyze, and disseminate college counseling data
Supervise the implementation of a full testing program
Oversee the analysis and dissemination of testing data
Coordinate the preparation of the counseling portion of the Board Report
Particpate in the hiring process for the department in conjunction with the Academic Dean and the Principal.
College Counseling Responsibilities
Provide academic and college counseling to a caseload of approximately 120 students, including sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Assist students with all aspects of the process, from prospective college identification to the logistics of application completion, including the financial aid process.
Write letters of recommendation
Develop positive relationships with College Admissions Representatives from colleges and universities throughout the country to help foster a better understanding of the rigor of the St. Agnes curriculum and school culture.
Attend various college counselors’ breakfast and luncheons
Attend state and national conferences
Some travel to Colleges/Universities maybe required
Other Responsibilities
Work closely with Academic Dean on curriculum matters
Coordinate course selection process with Academic Dean
Prepare various communications with families
Attend department chair and other administrative meetings
Participate in the planning of the Catholic High School College Fair
Oversee and coordinate the National Merit process
Qualifications:
Commitment to embracing the mission of St. Agnes Academy
Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum 5 years College Counseling experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
Prior education and leadership experiences a plus
Strong work ethic with the ability to manage multiple, and occasionally simultaneous, deadlines and projects
Ability to support, guide, develop, and manage a team.
Excellent accuracy in completing project work
Excellent judgment, confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy
Highly organized and reliable with demonstrated success working in quick-paced, dynamic environment with many responsibilities
Ability to work independently as well as a team member; ability to set priorities and schedules to meet deadlines.
