About the Role
Student Financial Services seeks a Financial Aid Advisor. This position will help Boston University Student Financial Services achieve Boston University's goals for recruitment, retention, and superior service by assisting students and parents in navigating forms, terminology, and deadlines associated with applying for and receiving financial aid. The financial aid advisor will coordinate timely communications to students regarding their financial aid award notification. Additionally, this position will act as an administrative assistant for SFS by maintaining inventory of all general office supplies, resolving appropriateness of requests for purchases of goods and services, and oversight of all expenditures within the department.
The Financial Aid Advisor works closely with works closely with current and prospective BU Medical Campus students, families, and vendors.
The Financial Aid Advisor primary duties include:
Providing advice about available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and the application process to students and parents;
Serving as the front line to hand on-demand/walk-in student aid advising;
Reviewing financial aid related documents for accuracy;
Sending all electronic financial aid notifications;
Assisting in managing the operations budgets and related requests;
Serving as the primary liaison for all vendors and;
Counseling students and application on off-campus housing resources
About the Organization
Boston University Student Financial Services is part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA). BU Student Financial Services plays a critical role in ENSA's mission by providing important services through timely and accurate review of BUMC financial aid applications, awarding of financial aid funds, processing of loans, and by providing counseling to students and parents on the financial aid process, programs and related issues.

About the Candidate
A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Ideally, we are seeking a candidate who:
Has at least one to two years of experience in a service and detailed-orientated position;
Demonstrates strong analytical skills;
Is an effective problem solver;
Displays excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills;
Has the ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines;
Work well independently and in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment and;
Is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Working knowledge of federal and state financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations are preferred but not required. Experience using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is a plus.
