The Assistant Director of Admissions assists and supports the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs (Director of Admissions and Student Enrollment) and the Dean of School of Pharmacy and Physician Assistant Studies (SOPPA) with strategies, tactics, and projects related to the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of a diverse, talented student body. S/he participates in all aspects of admissions work including, but not limited to, recruitment, marketing, evaluating candidates, and organizing interviews for the Pharmacy program.
The Assistant Director of Admissions will collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs (SOPPA Director of Admissions and Student Enrollment) to design and implement an effective outreach and recruitment strategy for prospective pharmacy students.
The Assistant Director will primarily manage the admissions process of the Pharmacy program; advise potential students on admission requirements; establish and administer programs for targeting and recruitment of defined groups of potential students; develop marketing materials; represent the School at recruiting events; visit and make presentation to groups at external locations; monitor student submission and completion of application materials; and provide leadership and support to student organizations.
This position requires an individual with a friendly, engaging personality who is enthusiastic, has a positive attitude and a passion for the work. The candidate must also be customer service-oriented, with persistence, commitment, and the ability to motivate others.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to)
Represents the University and conducts outreach both on-campus and off-campus to prospective students, secondary and independent school counselors, community college counselors, businesses, and organizations.
Directs the application and admissions process for the PharmD Program of the School of Pharmacy and Physician Assistant studies
Accurately and enthusiastically articulates information about the School and its programs, admissions criteria, financial aid, and student life. Assess individual student needs and develop tactics to provide them with essential information.
Successfully moves students through the admissions funnel, evaluates applications, processes admissions materials, makes recommendations regarding admissions and scholarship on behalf of the University, and captures all information accurately into USJ's database.
Works with the USJ Enrollment management and Marketing staff to develop an active student recruitment program.
Responsible for all aspects of Admissions' operations and communications, including timely, accurate processing of information, data, and reporting for each stage of the pharmacy admission funnel.
Responsible for implementation and leveraging of EM-related technologies, to ensure timely processing of admission applications and supporting document, data tracking, and reporting.
Coordinates activities and analyses to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and functioning of Admissions' operations and produces reports and analyses summarizing conclusions and recommendations and detailing processes for improvements.
Cross trains on PA admissions processes to assist when necessary/needed
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pharmacy education, graduate admissions, and/or admissions experience.
Database management and technology experience in higher education and familiarity with best practices required. Experience with Slate preferred.
Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel using a personal and/or rental car, for recruiting purposes.
Familiarity with computer systems and database management, e.g. PharmCas, PharmAdmit, Slate.
Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Knowledge of enrollment management and admission trends.
Familiarity with admission funnel management, including effective yield strategies, expected.
Possess excellent writing and communications skills and an ability to work collaboratively while supporting multiple projects and assignments.
Ability to report, interpret and analyze data and reports to support the assessment of admission funnel strategies
Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to handle projects from start to finish and strong leadership skills to support the program's interests and goals as assigned.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents
Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population
Exhibit a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision
