Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Mechanical Engineering (MechE) is an educational leader in areas such as advanced manufacturing, AI and machine learning, bioengineering, computational engineering, energy and the environment, product design, and robotics. Roughly 900 full-time students are enrolled in our degree programs, including approximately 250 Ph.D. students, supported by a collaborative team of 35 faculty and 25 staff.

MechE seeks a dynamic individual to join our department's Academic Team to administer our Ph.D. program and advise Ph.D. students. This is an excellent opportunity if you thrive in an exciting, ambitious, and diverse work environment. The successful candidate will provide advising, coaching, and mentoring to a diverse group of approximately 250 Ph.D.'s. Our advisors work closely with students to help them navigate their Carnegie Mellon degree program and to encourage and support them as they strive to achieve their academic and career goals. In addition to advising, the successful candidate will work closely with a team of faculty and staff across the entire graduate student lifecycle from recruiting and admission processes to graduation; the person will also play an important role in community building through collaboration with student groups. This position is important to the development and support of MechE's academic mission.
