The Next Chapter at Nebraska program seeks an innovative, creative, and dynamic educator based out of Omaha, Nebraska for our OPS Benson and Bryan high school program sites. This position is part-time with an expectation of 2-3 days of work between Monday-Friday. The duration of the position will be from August to May, to best serve the Omaha Public School District. The mission of the Next Chapter at Nebraska program is to provide College and Career programming to youth within Omaha Public Schools and local community-based organizations, with the intention of increasing college access opportunities, college going rates, youth knowledge regarding postsecondary options and assisting youth with their application to NEBRASKA while also providing extensive support for youth to proceed through the Admissions process. The Next Chapter educator will be responsible for planning and implementing existing Next Chapter curriculum that supplements the OPS Benson and Bryan curriculum schedule. The Next Chapter educator will also be responsible for delivering a minimum of 3 teaching sessions per school year to each grade they are responsible for. Educators in this position will focus on teaching only one grade per month. Additionally, this position is responsible for fostering and stewarding positive and appropriate relationships with school students, faculty, counselors, and administrators. Lastly, this position requires the ability to time manage and work well independently, as this position will not see their supervisor on a daily basis. This is a grant funded position.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Highschool ore equivalent experience and 3 years of college or postsecondary experience. Experience working with middle or high school aged youth in a structured setting. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with ethnic and culturally diverse group of students. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and educators, including but not limited to parents, community, and school leaders. Ability to relate and develop professional relationships with students. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year experience providing support for first generation, low income, and minority students. Knowledgeable of the Omaha North and South communities. Experience with classroom or group management, conflict resolution and differentiated instruction. Spanish Bilingual and/or multilingual
