The Sol Price School of Public Policy at University of Southern California is seeking an experienced professional to assume the role of Student Services Advisor II. This position advises approximately 110-120 students in the Master of Public Administration and reports directly to the MPA program director. It will provide support to the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, including coordinating outreach to stakeholders, administrative and organizational support for the MPA program and the Department of Public Policy and Management. The MPA program, of the nationâs oldest school, is a premier NASPAA-accredited program, ranked #3 in the nation for public affairs schools; The program is designed to prepare students to become collaborative leaders ready to manage complex organizations and service the public good, at home and abroad.   The program provides students with opportunities to work with Price school cutting edge research centers and to specialize in one of six areas, offering the chance to earn additional certificates.
This is a full-time, hybrid work arrangement position.
Job responsibilities include:
The Student Services Advisor II reports to the MPA Program Director of the responsible for:
Work closely with the Director of the MPA degree to coordinate delivery of the program and services with appropriate university offices.
Provide academic counseling for MPA students; advises on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, graduation counseling, and course clearances;
Monitor and evaluate student progress â academic, administrative, and personal â and connects students to student services for additional counseling
Assists in the facilitation of grade changes or disputes
Maintain student records, coordinate registration activities, degree progress, enrollment and degree verification, and transcripts wit the USC Office of Academic Records and Registrar;
Assists with petition applications. Maintain information in Student Information System and other university information systems
Ensures a safe and compliant student advisement environment; Links up the program students with university resources for improved accessibility needs
Evaluate student problemsâacademic, administrative, or personalâand refer student to appropriate student services for additional counseling. Work with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolution
Plans and coordinates in consultation with the program director program information, orientation and course advisement sessions
Plans and maintains the program teaching plan and course offerings, supports instructors with course assistants and/or teaching assistants
Facilitate adjunct faculty processes.
Assist with strategic development and implementation of program plans, and communication strategies
Plan and coordinate student events. Â
Maintain alumni contact in collaboration with other university offices.
Liaise with CMF Board on behalf of the MPA program and with outside professional groups when needed
Assist in the planning and execution of recruitment strategies and programs. Recommend updates to website and social media
Assist in the preparation of newsletters, handbooks, guides, fact sheets and brochures. May coordinate production of materials by outside vendors.
Provide support for faculty committee and works on committee assigned projects.
Gather financial data. Monitor expenses, authorizes expenditures, and processes reimbursements.
Preferred education: Master's degree or equivalence
Preferred experience: Four years of student advising experience or equivalence

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.66 - $34.13.
