Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. Under supervision, the Education Programs Coordinator will provide coordination for the Medical Education Programs within the Department of Pediatrics.
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM:Provide administrative support to the UCSD Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship Program. Assist the Fellowship Program Director in managing the Fellowship by ensuring that accreditation standards are met, educational activities are established, fellowship policies are created, disseminated to Fellows and enforced, and recruitment strategies are implemented so that a highly successful fellowship program is maintained.
RESIDENCY PROGRAM:Manage the operations of educational projects and coordination of clinical rotations within the Pediatric Residency Program, including: (A) Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics rotation (B) Primary Care Clinic rotation (C) Community Pediatrics rotation (D) Cultural Immersion/Community Engagement; and (E) Primary Care Track. Make operational decisions with a large degree of independence, collaborating with the Pediatric Residency Program Director, Associate Program Directors, and administrative staff as necessary.
MEDICAL STUDENT CLERKSHIPS: Coordinate the operations of the Ambulatory Pediatrics Subinternship and Developmental Behavioral Subinternship. Make operational decisions with a large degree of independence, collaborating with the Subinternship Directors.
The Educational Programs Coordinator ensures that all departmental educational activities are integrated with the overall goals and mission of the Department of Pediatrics, the UCSD School of Medicine, and UCSD at large.
Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.
6 years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus 2 years of related experience/training
Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Basic knowledge of health professions education industry.
Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Acquiring skills in developing and implementing processes and systems. Familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program.
