Be yourself and start your career here. Help us build a better Brockport! Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Student Government Business Manager. The Business Manager facilitates comprehensive financial administration and oversight of Brockport Student Government recognized clubs and student organization accounts. The person in this role works in partnership with BSG Treasurer and reports to College's Designated Advisor. Responsibilities include processing procurement card transactions, invoice payment forms, deposits, purchase orders, internal chargebacks, journal entries and various types of travel transactions, as well as maintaining current club financial documents. Serves as a resource by educating and counseling student about financial processes, procurement, budgeting, and financial planning related to event and programs. Provide training on various financial functions and develops training and resource materials for student clubs and organization. Develops and implements procedures based on policies and processes. Ensures compliance with internal controls, and policies and procedures. Reviews student organization events registration notices, verifies availability of funds and responds with account number and other necessary related information. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Higher Education Administration by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
Professional work experience in an educational environment instructing, advising, or counseling students.
Ability to interpret, apply and explain contracts, regulations and procedures to ensure compliance.
Ability to apply and explain general accounting and/or auditing principles, practices and procedures.
Ability to think critically and analytically in order to make well-informed and effective decisions.
Ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strategic management and planning skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with risk management situations and handling emergencies; developing action plans.
Knowledge and understanding of student government and/or organization work; developing students into engaged and active community members.
