Detailed Job DescriptionThe NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) promotes training and participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) high school students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. NRSC achieves its goals of improving access to postsecondary STEM education and employment for students by:
- Enhancing understanding about opportunities for DHH individuals in STEM careers among middle and high school students, teachers, counselors, and vocational rehabilitation (VR) counselors.
- Improving the instructional and technical skills of high school teachers in STEM areas.
- Establishing, expanding, and improving pathways for DHH students to transition from high school to associate degrees, to baccalaureate degrees, and beyond in STEM areas.
- Improving access to learning for DHH students who may be in mainstream classes, with or without support and access services.
- Developing employers' awareness of DHH individuals as potential employees and how they can be hired and successfully integrated into the STEM workforce.
- Improving the STEM knowledge and sign language skills of American Sign Language interpreters.
The NRSC works in partnership with multiple departments, units and offices within NTID including but not limited to: Academic Affairs, Access Services, Admissions, Budget and Finance, Co-op and Career Center, DeafTEC, External Affairs, Marketing Communications, Pre-College Outreach, Project Fast Forward, Student and Academic Services, Summer Transition Program, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
Repsonsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the core NRSC team at NTID and report to the Senior Director of such.
- Provides high-level confidential administrative support to the Senior Director of the NTID Regional STEM Center and the NRSC team at NTID. This includes, but is not limited to, the following general duties:
- Confidential calendar management with both internal and external participants, preparing meeting materials, scheduling interpreters and managing additional logistics needed for meetings and related activities.
- Travel arrangements for the director and associated parties as needed. This includes all aspects of the travel - registrations, flights, hotels, car rentals, and reconciling trip expenses (TERs).
Support for the NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) team at NTID. This includes:
- Making travel arrangements for NRSC staff as needed. This may include registrations, flights, hotels, rental cars, and reconciling trip expenses (TERs).
- Assisting with gathering data and compiling monthly, quarterly and annual NRSC/other activity reports.
- Preparing sponsorship letters and doing IPFs and related paperwork so that sponsorship funds for STEM related activities may be sent.
- Answering general inquiries within NTID and NRSC and related parties.
- Assisting with STEM projects by the NRSC team. This may include meeting logistics, travel, registration, and related tasks.
- Preparing presentations or other kinds of documentation using Excel, Word, PowerPoint or other software.
- Ordering and managing inventory supplies, equipment, materials and supplies as commensurate with NRSC activities and goals.
- Providing support for special STEM -related projects by various departments and units at NTID as requested.

Minimum QualificationsEducation/Experience:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience in an administrative position.
Skills:
- Flexibility to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Communication in American Sign Language at an intermediate level or the willingness to take NTID ASL classes to reach that level.
