The Ethel Walker School has a full time opening for an Associate Director of Admission & Financial Aid. Reporting to the Assistant Head of Admission and Enrollment, this is a full year, exempt position.
General Position Description
This person’s primary role is that of financial aid and admission counselor within the enrollment office. She/he/they share responsibility with the Assistant Head for Admission & Enrollment for managing the prospective family pool - including interviews, tours, applicant management, sending school liaison, committee participation - with a specific focus on families applying for financial aid including creating communications and education, FA application management, budget management in partnership with Assistant Head, and successful enrollment of qualified students with established need. Additionally, this individual will be the office's key liaison to sending organizations and some other general admission "territory," to be assigned.
Financial aid - Collect and evaluate requests for financial assistance. In collaboration with Assistant Head, maintains adherence to the school's mission, practice and policies while managing the financial aid budget and the determination and distribution of grants to families. Provide information and support to families regarding financial aid resources available. Collaborate with Dir of Enrollment Management to fulfill the school's enrollment management objectives. Communicate with financial aid families throughout the academic year regarding financial aid. Annual financial aid statistics and reporting including DASL
Cultivation of sending organizations and prospective families through the entire admission cycle - prospect to enrolled (initial contact, interview, tour, application assistance, etc.)
Annual review/refinement of assessments by division, working with Head of Middle School and Assistant Head of School and Director
Re-enrollment of families receiving financial aid
Strong verbal and written skills
Strong computational skills
Experience with tax returns ideal
Understanding independent school value in the context of educational best practices
Expertise in middle and high school, specifically in areas of development, assessment and curriculum
Conversant with student enrollment database platforms (Veracross is our current platform)
Creative problem solver
Respectful, discrete, accessible
