Job Summary
The Associate Director of Student Relations is an integral member of the Graduate Accounting Programs (GAP) leadership team and reports to the Director of GAP. The person in this role establishes and executes strategies and experiences to maximize meaningful engagement of approximately 150-200 full-time, in-residence master's students (i.e., 3/2 MBA and MS in Accounting with Data and Analytics - MSADA).
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for several major areas of student relations
Academic Advising/ Monitoring
Promotes student achievement of timely academic progress, desired career outcomes, and professional development.
Designs and delivers events/experiences that enhance student well-being and personal development.
Provides direction and counsel to various constituents (e.g., prospective students, undergraduate academic advisors, recruiting team, etc.) to promote efficient and successful paths to meeting degree prerequisites.
Provides direction and assistance to 3/2 MBA and MSADA students wishing to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination in Indiana and facilitates information-gathering for students interested in other jurisdictions.
Enrollment Management/ Data Analysis/ Accreditation
Coordinates with academic departments to build class schedules that maximize student options subject to faculty teaching constraints.
Analyzes course enrollment data, application data, and other data to offers viable solutions to address strategic curriculum decisions.
Collaborates with faculty to document assurance of learning for accreditation, interprets feedback, and offers curriculum change suggestions to GAP leadership.
Student Experience
Plans events within each degree and across degrees to facilitate key stakeholder relationships: student-to-student; student-to-faculty; student-to-alumnus. Events include but are not limited to new student orientations, graduations, alumni receptions, and regular social gatherings.
Manages experiential courses that require team creation, global student travel, and faculty collaboration (e.g., Field Study, Field Consulting, Career Success Skills, Capstone Simulation, etc.).
General Responsibilities
Develops and implements programs and initiatives that touch on various/multiple student-related goals, such as enhancing and reinforcing academic engagement and experiential learning; increasing student engagement, wellness, and involvement; fostering learning, inclusion, and development; supporting students in crisis and adversity; and improving the student campus experience.
Interfaces directly with students by attending student programming events, advising student organization leaders, meeting one-on-one to discuss areas of concern on campus, and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student services initiatives and objectives.
Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student services goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs and initiatives.
Projects outcomes for services offered at the program, department/division, or campus level. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student services against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and may present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
Serves on committees and performs student services research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
Plans and coordinates communications for student services initiatives to ensure student participation and engagement.
May provide guidance to other student services staff; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in higher education student affairs, public affairs, counseling, social work, education, business, or related field
Preferred
Master's degree in related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
2 years in student services, higher education, or related field
Preferred
3 years in collegiate admissions and/or academic advising and/or higher education administration

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
