Healthcare Risk Advisors, rated "A" by A.M. Best, is searching for a Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) to oversee the Data, Education, and Risk Program Teams for its Risk Management Department. The CNIO will be actively engaged in the development, alignment, and implementation of operational strategic plans as they relate to data analytics and will partner with the Data Analytics team in evaluating clinical informatics in strategic planning initiatives. The CNIO reports directly to the SVP, Chief Medical Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Chief Medical Officer to develop and implement innovative approaches to patient safety, clinical outcomes, and quality of care.
Lead the development of clinical informatics protocols. Work cross functionally with all internal and external stakeholders to understand the business processes, assist in prioritize projects and road maps.
Facilitate and oversee nursing committee activities.
Act in role as informatics expert, leveraging knowledge of data systems and apply expertise to reduce malpractice risk for all clients. Collaborate with colleagues across the company (both HRA and more broadly TDC Group) to identify and implement innovative clinical informatics research.
Lead the promotion of standardization and implementation of best practice initiatives identified by the enterprise; recommends clinical process improvements and clinical system development.
Oversees clinical risk management and patient safety services to the Company’s hospital and long-term care clients, insured physicians, and other health professionals, as appropriate.
Co-facilitate the various clinical committees such as obstetrics, surgery, and emergency medicine with the Chief Medical Officer.
Lead the coordination and content development of the bi-annual conferences and the annual webinar series.
Oversee the development of interventions and education/teaching opportunities for hospital and long-term care clients and individual insured physicians and in high-risk areas.
Provide consultation to insured physicians regarding risk management solutions (phone/e-mail communications), in coordination with HRA Underwriting, Claims, and TDC Patient Safety/Risk management.
Participate in new department projects developed to support the expansion of patient safety and risk reduction programs for new clients.
Manage budget and set objectives, priorities, policies, practices, and procedures for the Department.
Competencies:
A demonstrated interest and expertise in Healthcare Information Technology (IT) through formal training, and experience in or with a hospital.
Strong knowledge of risk management process, as well as clinical, legal and insurance issues in professional liability.
Previous participation and/or leadership in a hospital committee.
Ability to work independently, and manage multiple projects, with strong prioritizing skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong listening skills and an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Excellent problem-solving, administrative, and analytical skills.
Strong management and leadership skills, with ability to recruit, manage, set clear direction, and continuously motivate high-performing teams.
Ability to exercise appropriate discretion and judgment.
Robust Microsoft Office Suite skills, facility with hospital Electronic Medical Record systems, and knowledge of data warehouse technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or RN degree
Master's Degree in Nursing of Informatics or MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) with a specialization in nursing informatics
Preferred
7 or more years’ experience in clinical and information systems leadership
Minimum of (5) five years’ experience with implementation and management of clinical informatics/information systems
Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years of clinical healthcare experience.
Minimum of 5 years of administrative and management experience.
