About the Job:
As a VP Government Banking Officer you will be responsible for developing new Government Banking relationships, as well as servicing and expanding existing municipal relationships through the use of bank deposit products and treasury management services.

What You Will Do:
Increase revenues to the bank from municipal clients in East Michigan, primarily through Treasury Management products/services and deposit growth with an emphasis on cross-selling the bank's other product offerings.
Maintain relationships with existing municipal customers while focusing on actively seeking out new relationships for the bank.
Utilize networking, community, and public relations activities to identify prospective Government Banking client opportunities.
Perform product research and identify appropriate solutions for customer requirements and satisfaction.
Manage client calls and contacts and meet all assigned goals.
Understand client business goals, environments, strategies, and industry trends in order to become a trusted advisor and to identify solutions for customer pain points.
Understand our competitors' environment, capabilities, and gaps to effectively position Independent Bank's Government Banking team for success.
Prepare and present account analysis proformas and formal RFP responses.
Assist Government Banking clients with product training and demonstrations as needed.
Develop your own center of influence/referral source contacts to grow business.
Attend industry conferences. Actively participate in treasurers' groups, and their boards when appropriate. Maintain memberships in associations as recommended by Director of Treasury Management.
Maintain appropriate client documentation and perform annual client reviews.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What We're Looking For:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience - a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Two+ years' experience in Commercial/Municipal Banking.
Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) preferred.
Knowledge of Account Analysis and Treasury Management Pricing required.
Strength in sales and business development.
Able to modify sales approach to suit client personalities.
Seize opportunities without direction.
Ability to shift focus easily, manage multiple demands and manage priorities.
Strong attention to detail and good planning and organization skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to function professionally at many different levels of the company.
