The Giraldez laboratory at Yale University is looking to fill a position for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Research Development and Science Communication. This is a unique opportunity to train in the field of academic research development, scientific strategy, and grant-writing. The position will provide key strategic support to further the directions, funding, and impact of the lab's research on mechanisms of gene regulation in early embryonic development. 

About you:

We seek an individual with a PhD in the life sciences who is motivated, reliable, flexible, and who can work both independently and within a team. Knowledge and experience in developmental biology, genomics, epigenetics and/or chromatin biology is required as well as excellent writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills. The successful applicant will thrive in the scientific, cultural, and intellectual diversity that fosters a strong sense of collegiality and community in the Giraldez lab and the Department of Genetics generally.

About the role:

The successful applicant will be fully integrated in the Giraldez lab and will report directly to Prof. Antonio Giraldez. The primary responsibilities of the role are:  

• To work with other trainees, staff, and faculty in the preparation of new and ongoing investigator-led funding proposals
• To work with other trainees, staff, and faculty in the preparation of new and ongoing manuscript submissions 
• To provide strategic advice regarding individual research directions and emerging research projects

The successful applicant will interface with the Office for Strategic Research Development (ORSD) in the Department of Genetics for ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development. Under the leadership of the Scientific Director and Advisor to the Chair, ORSD provides strategic support to faculty across a range of initiatives designed to support their scientific and professional growth.
