The Branding + Integrated Communications (BIC) Master's Degree program is part of the Division of Humanities and the Arts. This graduate program combines theory and practice in an interdisciplinary, multi-tracked curriculum that addresses the opportunities and needs of marketing communications industries on behalf of both private and not-for-profit organizations. The BIC program is home to approximately 70 students in three different tracks: Management/Planning, Public Relations, and Creative. It is the only graduate program in the country to teach branding and integrated communications in an integrated way, requiring all students to develop and defend a portfolio in their discipline area in order to graduate with a Master of Professional Studies.
Students are required to attend professional conferences as well as industry events that feature high-level professionals in the field of communications. The BIC program is supported by an active Board of Directors that includes CEOs and thought leaders of major global organizations. Since its launch in 2013, examples of alumni positions include: Brand Manager at Apple, Senior Account Executive at BerlinRosen, Digital Marketing Manager at American Girl, Creative Insights Strategist at The New York Times T-Brand Studio, Digital Media and Graphic Arts Manager at NAACP, and Senior Art Director at Droga5.
The Academic Program Manager will report to the Director of Branding + Integrated Communications at The City College of New York in order to advance the educational needs and career services of BIC students as well as engage in the industry outreach that this high-level graduate program demands. In addition to the CUNY title overview duties, tasks include but are not limited to:
Oversee staff and operations of the BIC Office
Manage and monitor the program budget, ensuring accuracy of budget reports
Support the development of programmatic strategic planning (including the systematic analysis of long and short term goals and implementation for adjunct hiring, admissions and student retention, annual Board of Advisor meeting and ongoing engagement, fundraising, etc.), curricular enhancements, recruitment tactics, and regular assessment reports on program effectiveness and recommendations for improvements
Manage a comprehensive mentoring program for new and continuing students within the program
Supervise support staff, including communications specialist, work study students, and college assistants routinely hired by the BIC Program, as well as oversee staff development. Specific responsibilities include the recruitment, hiring and independent supervision of a BIC communications specialist who is hired each semester to handle blog posts, newsletter content, and other communications outreach. Specific responsibilities also include direct on-boarding and oversight of a semesterly work-study student who updates databases.
Serve on the BIC Admissions Committee to assess and help select incoming class
Manage student recruitment and selection strategies to fulfill program enrollment targets
Manage material aspects of the admissions process including logging and routing applications, notifying applicants of admissions status at various stages of the process, building acceptance packages, and creating new student records
Monitor, assess, and advise BIC students on academic progress, readiness for graduation, and
industry job/ career placement
Prepare documentation and materials leading to graduation, including graduation audits, Program of Study sheets, Commencement Awards, etc.
Organize and manage enhanced curricular functions, such as Portfolio Bootcamp, Portfolio-in-Progress Recruiting event, and Portfolio Thesis Defense - Organize and manage annual industry workshops, lecture series, and other special events, such as @BIC Lecture Series and Industry Mix+Mentor
Coordinate space management for classes and rooms for classes, on-campus events, and workshops
Act as liaison for scholarly and trade publication submissions as well as student competitions
Represent the BIC Program at CCNY, CUNY and industry events related to recruitment, program promotion and outreach of prospective graduate students
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
??? Experience supporting an executive level administrator performing administrative, operational and budget work, preferably in a higher education setting;
??? Proven experience managing a complex calendar and daily office management; and ability to draft and edit complex work-related correspondence, i.e., emails, meeting minutes, summaries, documents and presentations;
??? Proven proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office?? Suite, with an emphasis in Excel; ability to learn new software and systems;
??? Experience with CUNYFirst and/or PeopleSoft.
??? Detail oriented and accurate with strong quantitative, analytical, research, and writing skills;
??? Strong work ethic and integrity, with a high level of professional discretion;
??? Strong organizational and follow-through skills to develop and execute work plans, prioritize work, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines; handle multiple tasks with multiple deadlines;
??? Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, providing accurate and appropriate information;
??? Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.
