Position Summary:
The Counselor will work in the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. The Counselor will also coordinate, organize and deliver outreach programs for students on campus.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals and crisis intervention
- Provide consultation services to faculty and staff as needed
- Supervise interns/post doc and other therapists
- Assist with outreach programs to students on campus
- Maintain an assigned caseload of patients
- Actively participate in individual and group supervision
- Maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Coordinate continuing education curriculum for interns and staff
- Build and organize referral network for Counseling Center
Experience & Educational Background:
- The individual should have completed all coursework to be a licensed or certified psychologist, social worker or mental health counselor
- Prior experience working in college counseling centers, with interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, or trauma preferred
- Interest in outreach to our student community to run psycho-educational programs
Skills & Competencies:
- Candidate is required to have skills necessary to complete intakes, create treatment plans, and implement short term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate students and graduate students
- Candidate should have the skills to complete a suicide assessment and to be involved in crisis intervention
- Candidate should have proficiency in the treatment model they use, and preferably have familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapy
