Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking an assistant English teacher in the high school division. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion 
• Help to plan curriculum, lessons and assignments/projects
• Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
• Break down/scaffolding of in-class assignments and projects
• Grade student work and participation
• Track student’s work and progress
• Serve as an advisor to a small group of students

Qualifications

• BA or BS in education and/or English (liberal arts majors welcome)
• Classroom experience or experience building positive appropriate relationships with teens
• Knowledge of, or experience with learning disabilities
• Experience with smartboards, google drive, and technology in the classroom.
• Interest in becoming a head teacher and pursuing professional development in special education
• Possess patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
