The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking applicants for an Academic Adviser I or II. The Academic Advisor plays a key role in recruiting, retaining, and enhancing the academic experience of undergraduate students.Â Â Â
The Academic Adviser will be responsible for:
Assisting students with scheduling, registration, degree audits and course selection, and referring students to appropriate resources necessary for retention and academic success.
Assist students with study abroad and job opportunities.
Additionally, this position will support recruitment activities such as providing information to prospective students and their parents during individual and group visit days
Participating in student orientation sessions; and ensuring proper placement in courses.Â Â
In addition to the duties above, the Academic Adviser II position also devises new and more effective approaches to advising students for academic success;
Plans, develops, and teaches orientation courses
Coordinates learning community programs
Serves on university, college and departmental committees
Provides career counseling.Â Â Â

This position could be hired at a higher level based on experience and job duties. Minimum qualifications for Level I PS805 is a Bachelors Degree and for the Level II PS806 a Bachelors Degree and 2 years of related experience.
