Definition of Classification:
The Graduate Management Intern supports the Community Service-Learning (CSL) program in creating meaningful and engaging experiences for students while meeting community needs. Works collaboratively to support community engagement related to on-campus service, the student support food pantry with the Volunteer Center and advising and coordinating service-related projects with particular attention to programs for the University and off-campus community.
Reporting to the Director and Associate Directors of Community Service-Learning assists in the supervision of the community service activity courses and may teach, or assist in teaching, a special topics course in spring semester or May term. This position requires flexible working hours, which will include working some evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manages, oversees, and monitors the Student Food Support Pantry including transporting and stocking dried good, canned food, and non-perishable items; liaison with the Feeding America Corporation Riverside, Bishop's Warehouse in Colton, and Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County Food Bank; supervises student assistant for pantry support; participates in additional shopping, stocking, and cleaning as necessary.
Manages Student Volunteer Center and staff in conjunction with both Associate Directors including supervising staff, oversees recruitment, and training, verifies hours, and provides general support; assists in implement community service and volunteer events for community partners and local needs; arranges and edits bi-weekly editions of the Volunteer Voice publication and provides information to SIS for the Bulldog Nation.
Oversee student staff in coordinating, advertising, and scheduling special projects such as Believe Walk, Bulldogs in Service, Thanksgiving baskets, Rise Against Hunger, Give-B4-You-Go, Redlands Family Service's Friday morning breakfasts and other local outreach involving the campus.
Works cooperatively with on-campus service clubs such as Alpha Phi Omega (APO), Greek Organizations, and service clubs to facilitate service outreach.
Tracks all service clubs, Greek organizations, and Volunteer Center promoted event hours each semester and calculates service statistics for reports and awards.
Support special projects adopted by the Volunteer Center including individual staff projects.
Participate in and attend the Redlands Service Club Council meetings and service projects.
Works cooperatively with on-campus service clubs such as Alpha Phi Omega (APO), Greek Organizations, and service clubs to facilitate service outreach.
Works cooperatively with on-campus service driven organizations and clubs such as Alpha Phi Omega (APO), Greek Organizations, and other service clubs to facilitate service outreach; serves as an administrative advisor to these organizations as needed.
Provides support to the Associate Directors and Office Coordinator in the creating of the CSL annual report, i.e., statistics, photographs, personal stories, and reports.
May teach or assist in teaching in accordance with assigned load during the academic year or a May Term Special Topics Course and help facilitate Jump into Service orientation projects as needed; builds curriculum, schedules, syllabi, manages reflections and issues grades.
Participates in the campus-wide annual Martin Luther King week, Cesar Chavez Day and other 'service days
