The University of Cincinnati Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciences is searching for a full-time educator faculty member who will contribute to the department's teaching, service, and research missions. This position will serve as the OT Doctoral Capstone Coordinator, who is specifically responsible for the program's compliance with the capstone requirements of Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Standards as identified in Section D. This is a 12-month per year educator track position with rank commensurate with education and experience.
This position is primarily responsible for teaching and service in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program in the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise, and Nutrition Sciencesand College of Allied Health Sciences. This program has achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Teaching and service responsibilities include, but are not limited to, course development, primary instruction of didactic courses; participation in student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other activities as assigned by Department Chair.
The OT Doctoral Capstone Coordinator will be primarily responsible for managing and implementing the capstone portion of the OT curriculum in accordance with ACOTE standards and will ensure that the occupational therapy student capstone reflects the sequence and scope of content in the curriculum design in collaboration with faculty so that capstone experiences strengthen the ties between didactic and fieldwork education.
While student instruction and development and oversight of the doctoral capstone is central to this position, service and scholarship activities are also required consistent with the missions and faculty evaluative criteria of the University, College, and Department.
Terminal doctoral degree (e.g. OTD, PhD).
A minimum of one year of full-time college level teaching or equivalent collection of part-time experience plus an equivalent of more than 4 years of relevant full-time work-related experience OR Demonstration of teaching experience of at least two years at the college level or equivalent plus evidence of work toward establishing a defined line of research.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the state of Ohio.
Understanding of the capstone in OTD education and ideas for design and implementation of the capstone within the OTD curriculum.
Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-through.
Interest and ability to collaborate with others including professionals within the community to develop meaningful capstone experiences for OT students.
Ability to assist with tasks assigned by Department Chair.
Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Participation in an OT doctoral capstone (e.g. capstone coordinator, faculty mentor, clinical advisor, or student).
Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems.
