Lead a group of user experience (UX) professionals focused on one UX capability. Work closely with product managers and key business and technology stakeholders to understand the product vision and customer needs, and how their area of expertise can help to meet that vision. Act as the champion responsible for promoting the concepts and principles of user-centered design, usability and research throughout the organization. Define and manage their area of expertise within the UX methodology landscape for Technology, including the structure and application within the project management process.
Responsibilities - Lead a team of UX professionals, where the team could include Information Architects, Designers, and UX Researchers. Provide oversight and leadership to a team (may include employees, contract personnel and/or vendor partners and their resources). Effectively manage team work load and ensure knowledge sharing and cross-training of team members to effectively support the business and execute on team/function deliverables. Develop and maintain a high-performing team through effective hiring, coaching and performance management). Manage the resource workload, ensuring capacity to project work ratios are in balance.
- Area of responsibility will focus on their area of expertise expressed as -
- Research: Drive research plans designed to gather quantitative and qualitative information to support informed design decisions. This could include execution and moderation of the plan or
- Design: Give direction and feedback for UX efforts in the implementation phase, including the development of wireframes, mock-ups and other project deliverables to illustrate the intended user experience.
- Define the user experience approach (based on area of expertise) in the strategy phase of projects.
- Champion UX best practices, the UX role in the project process and the design direction for the family of applications within the firm. Lead ongoing management and governance of the design system. Understand the firm's business drivers and the application suite to plan a cohesive UX design approach.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to estimate level of effort for major programs.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and advocate for continued improvement in the experience of our end users.
Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree or equivalent (4-years).
- 7 to 10 years of relevent work experience required.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to clearly articulate UX best practices and industry standards.
- Experience with people leadership, including hiring, leading direct reports and coaching matrixed employees.
- 7+ years of broad experience with highly transactional web sites and software applications from a user-centered standpoint.
- Fundamental understanding of project management and business process management concepts.
- Ability to manage work through both waterfall and agile project processes.
- Ability to determine level of effort for UX deliverables.
- Ability to interpret product requirements documents from a user-centered perspective.
- Experience with a variety of UX research methodologies and their appropriate application.
- Working knowledge of design fundamentals such as color theory, composition, branding, typography and web design standards.
- Experience with creating and presenting compelling PowerPoint presentations to clearly convey complex concepts.
- Has broad knowledge of UX research, Information Architecture, design, and interaction design with deep knowledge in at least one area.
Preferred Qualifications - Certifications Preferred: Certified Usability Analyst Certification (CUA)
