Become a Corporate Communications Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. As a member of Corporate Communications & Philanthropy’s Customer Communications team, you will lead communications for a portfolio of critical customer facing policies and programs that are crafted to help customers make clean energy choices. You’ll develop and implement strategic, integrated communications plans and will distill complex issues into easy-to-understand content and materials to tell the SCE’s story to our customers, media and other .
In this role you’ll also take the lead to identify priority communications needs and work closely with team members in Corporate Communications & Philanthropy, Corporate Affairs, Customer Service, Regulatory Affairs and others across the company to communicate in one voice to meet communications goals and help achieve public policies advocated by SCE.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright
- Develop and lead a range of high-profile communications campaigns to influence media, customers, employees and others.
- Provide strategic recommendations and counsel to business partners and senior-level leaders on external and internal communication strategies and tactics, including politically charged topics, that will support company, program objectives and policy outcomes.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the media; pitch media, arrange interviews and serve as a spokesperson when needed to secure media coverage for your portfolio of products and services; correct inaccuracies in media; conduct social media.
- Track effectiveness of various campaigns and make adjustments as needed.
- Write talking points, messaging, news releases, FAQs, media statements, Op-eds, employee communications as well as stories for Energized by Edison, the company’s storytelling platform, social media posts and more.
- Works independently in a fast pace environment.
- This position will also be expected to support crisis communications activities, including as a Public Information Officer and serving as part of the on-call media team to support company communications outside of “traditional” business hours.
The Essentials
- Ten or more years of experience leading strategic communications plans and conducting media outreach that delivers results for a brand/company, either in-house or for a public relations agency.
- Experience serving as company spokesperson.
The preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field.
- A track record of meeting deadlines and proven ability to managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Experience in visual storytelling and implementing content strategy for online properties.
- Experience in working across different levels of the company such as colleagues and executives
- Strategic problem solver; self-starter; high degree of creativity to find new ways to achieve team goals.
- Understanding of the energy industry and regulatory environment in a plus.
- Prior experience on politically charged issues.
- A strong network of media contacts covering climate issues, clean energy technology or consumer issues would be helpful.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience using Cision, BusinessWire and AP Style.
- Fluent in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean or Vietnamese.

- Hybrid: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
