Middle School Math Teacher

The mission of The Co-op School is to inspire passion and teach children to become protagonists in their own educational journey by fostering their innate sense of curiosity and creativity. The Co-op School facilitates joyful learning through a unique and rigorous constructivist approach that listens to and honors the individual interests and strengths of each child. In addition to teaching middle school Math, the person will also serve as an advisor, and be an integral component of the school community. 

Responsibilities:

• Use the CMP3 math curriculum to teach 6th-8th-grade math

• Use Elevate Science curriculum to teach 6th-8th grade science

• Provide academic remediation and enrichment during study hall period

• Serve as an advisor

• Provide middle school coverage as needed, including weekly lunch  duties

• Collaborate with middle school teachers, learning specialist, and division head to plan out and provide high-quality, differentiated, and relevant instruction to all children
• Regularly communicate with families 
• Integrate The Co-op School Values into classroom culture, units of study, and interactions with staff, families, and students
• Integrate the real world and surrounding community into units of study, lessons, and classroom culture
• Maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Maintain confidentiality with student information and records
• Create a positive and safe classroom culture and community using the Responsive Classroom approach

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills and qualities:

• A commitment to working with middle school students
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
• Experience teaching students in grades 6-8

• A willingness to collaborate with others and continually inspire students to love learning
• Experience working with a diverse group of learners
• A commitment to social justice and anti-bias curriculum

• Commitment to and knowledge of experiential and inquiry-based teaching and learning
