• Part-time (67%FTE), with the possibility of adding two courses in Humanities to become 89%*
• Contract start July 1, 2022; on -site start mid-August 2022 through June 2023
• Contracts are renewed yearly

Spanish Language/Literature Teacher: 

We are looking for a Spanish Language teacher who has a strong commitment to innovative curricular design, progressive pedagogy, collaboration with colleagues, and social justice--all in service of student learning and growth. 

The teacher will teach 6 courses per year, 3 each semester. Each semester-long class meets three times a week in a rotating block schedule. In addition, the teacher meets with their collaborative course team at least once a week and provides office hours for students (“tutorial”) 4x/week. In addition to class preparation and classroom teaching, all Bay teachers are responsible for: 

• collaborative curricular development and alignment 
• designing skills-based formative and summative assessments 
• timely grading and feedback 
• regular communication with students, guardians, and advisors regarding student progress
• one-on-one student meetings as needed 
• weekly faculty and course team meetings

All teaching staffulty have additional responsibilities to support the well-being of our community and the growth of individual students. These responsibilities include but are not limited to serving as an advisor, chaperoning social events, writing letters of recommendation, serving on committees and research groups, helping with admissions events and presentations.

Each Immersive course meets daily for three weeks from 9am-3pm, with the potential for field trips and experiential learning that extend beyond the traditional school day. The ideal candidate

• possesses a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish Language and/or Literature, Second Language Acquisition, Linguistics or related field; 
• has experience teaching various levels of high school Spanish Language/Literature, from foundational courses to advanced electives; 
• values individual learning profiles by teaching in multiple modalities and offering differentiated instruction; 
• employs and is excited by student-centered teaching strategies (project-based, place-based, problem-based, and experiential learning); 
• brings a diversity of teaching and life experiences to their work;

• enjoys working with and inspiring high-school learners in all areas of school life.
