Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Admissions & Student Life, and Inclusivity, the Admissions Senior Counselor is responsible for the administration associated with Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) recruitment, admissions, scholarships, yield, and retention are priorities for the selected applicant to serve as Admissions Senior Counselor in the College of Veterinary Medicine. In this role, the Admissions Senior Counselor will ensure the activities associated with recruitment, scholarships, admissions, and yield/retention are of the highest quality and align with the vision of MSUCVM and the Associate Dean. This individual will also promote the continuous growth of veterinary medical student, faculty, and alumni participation in the below activities. The admissions Senior Counselor is responsible for promoting a healthy, inclusive, and positive work environment, focusing on productivity, and team and individual performance. Priorities include overseeing and/or interacting with: Priorities include overseeing and/or interacting with: Staff supervision VMCAS/Web Admit management Admissions system(s) management Enrollment Management Platform (EMP) management Application screening Application review and training of the faculty/staff and alumni reviewers Organize with admissions staff the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) process Guiding/advising prospective applicants Admissions correspondence All recruitment, admissions, scholarships and yield activities Committee on Student Admissions support Admission policy/procedures Deadlines/deposits/fees Transcript verification Recruitment (excludes Pre-College) of a diverse and qualified applicant pool Admissions website, webinars, and other technological tools Admissions marketing materials Yield events such as fairs, college weekends and evenings for candidates and their families Enrollment goals Quality control evaluation of transcript reviews and grade point calculations Pre-health advisors liaison and yearly conference College staff and administration Active participant with the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges admissions fairs, meetings, and hot topic meetings attendance.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional admissions work at a regionally accredited institution, including experience with domestic freshman and transfer applicants; experience in a specialized admissions area; making formal presentations; and working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Preferred qualifications: Masters degree in higher education administration, counseling or business; proficient knowledge of Centralized Application Services and back-end.

Final candidates will be required to provide official transcripts to the hiring department upon hire. Applicants will be required to work in person Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00 PM, some weekends and evenings.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday 8-5 with occasional night and weekend hours.
