Position Summary: The Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Enhancement helps oversee the holistic personal, professional, and leadership development of Tulane University student-athletes by providing a comprehensive education through the W.AV.E. Student-Athlete Enhancement Program. This position builds a rapport working collaboratively with the Assistant Athletics Director of Student Athlete Enhancement, student-athletes, teams, coaches, athletic administrators, and campus/community partners. The Assistant Director serves as the co-advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Essential Functions:
1. Function: Assist in the Development and Implementation of a Comprehensive Life Skills and Career Development Program: Co-coordinate the W.A.V.E Student-Athlete Enhancement Program and afford opportunities for personal, professional and leadership development; facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across the Tulane community; co-coordinate guest speakers and special events associated with leadership, personal and professional development, and student-athlete welfare; co-coordinate initiatives with staff members from the Tulane Letterwinners Association, Tulane Alumni House, and Tulane Career Services to develop programs and resources to enhance career readiness, including the Student-Athlete Career Fair, networking events, and alumni mentor program; establish metrics and data collection methods to evaluate program offerings; collaborate with appropriate entities to establish branding designed to promote initiatives and serve as a recruiting tool for prospective student-athletes via social media; integrate existing institutional programming, education, and support into comprehensive student-athlete development and leadership programs; research and implement best practices in the field of student-athlete enhancement; provide support and consultation to student-athletes and coaches in the areas of team building, motivation, communication, conflict resolution, personal accountability, and leadership; institute career and leadership assessments for student-athletes, coaches, and staff engaging in personal, professional, and leadership development; develop, implement, and maintain a robust communications plan for the leadership certificate program; provide enhanced programming that offers a broad approach to meeting the transitional needs of student-athletes matriculating and/or transferring into Tulane University; provide resources and programming to prepare upcoming graduating student-athletes successfully transition into life after athletics; oversee post-graduate awards and opportunities as related to student-athlete achievement by assisting student-athletes in completing applications and developing their candidacy for applicable scholarships and awards; serve as the co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC); create, track, and update individualized plans for student-athletes as they matriculate through our student-athlete enhancement and leadership programs; administer all aspects of the W.A.V.E. Cup; creates and maintains employer contact database; assist in staff selection and training and work with academic and career advising colleagues in a cooperative and productive manner. (65%)
2. Function: Administer A Summer/Fall Bridge Program and Programming for Each Classification: Co-coordinate a summer/fall bridge program to enhance incoming freshmen student-athletes’ academic preparedness; implement programming for each classification; work collaboratively with the learning specialist, mental health team, and campus resources to facilitate programming and develop evaluation metrics and collect data for analysis and improvement of each program. (25%)
3. Function: Facilitate Community Service Projects: Coordinate and facilitate community service projects for student-athletes; track and report student-athletes' outreach participation in various community service projects to appropriate constituencies; maintain updated community service records through electronic platforms; communicate service opportunities with student-athletes, coaches and staff and collaborate with Athletic staff members to promote student-athlete community engagement via social media and the Tulane Athletics website. (10%)

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of student-athlete enhancement/career development experience at a NCAA Division I institution
OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 7 years of student-athlete enhancement/career development experience at a NCAA Division I institution
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during special events, as needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Great attention to details.
- Working knowledge of standard computer software such as office suite, email, etc. and ability to learn and utilize specific software necessary for career advising practice; Salesforce and Canvas.
- Working knowledge of best social media practices and use of Canva.
- Ability and desire for continuous improvement and learning of leadership and career advising best practices.
- Ability to implement leadership and career development practices.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Ability to organize, plan, and facilitate small and large group programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- 3 years of student-athlete enhancement/career development experience at a NCAA Division I institution
NCAA Related:
Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
