PT Coordinator of Early College-Summer Academy

Campus Location: Lynn, Virtual

Work Schedule: 20 to 30 Hours per week

Non-Benefited, Grant funded position through August 30, 2022

EARLY COLLEGE:

The PT Coordinator of Early College Summer Academy will work specifically with students in the Early College program, primarily in Lynn. The role is committed to facilitating access to higher education and successful accomplishment of student goals. Creates and promotes resources that support student achievement in personal barriers. Focuses on empowering first-generation, low income students and anchors the student as a vital member of the College community. A special emphasis will be placed on English Language Learners for this role. Responsible for serving all students participating in North Shore Community College Early College Summer Academy. In addition, the position supports other current and prospective North Shore Community College students transitioning from High School into career pathways educational programs. This position reports to the Executive Director of K12-Partnerships.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Coordinates the work of the Early College Summer Academy program- including outreach, advisement, planning and carrying out student-and-family engagement events and college awareness activities, information sessions, registration sessions and orientations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists the Early College team by working with School Counselors and related staff at partner school districts to better serve and reach the student population.
2. Develop and maintain relationships with College offices, community-based organizations, school districts to support students' career and academic advising needs.
3. Communicate with students at High School and through social media to encourage and support progress.
4. Collaborate with Early College and Strategic Partnerships staff.
5. Collaborate with support services staff at the college such as Tutoring, Accessibility Services, Advising and Enrollment Services.
6. Assist in developing and providing information about colleges, admissions requirements, financial aid and career information to students and their families.
7. Prepare and lead orientations and program related workshops.
8. Maintain confidential data and abide by all laws and policies that govern student privacy.
9. Demonstrate sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of varying racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, disability, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds.
10. Demonstrate sensitivity to students with a diversity of learning styles.
11. Serve as a role model and mentor for students as appropriate.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Strategic Partners and Executive Director of K12 Partnerships  who act as the Project Directors.

Additional Information:

SALARY RANGE:  $30.03 per hour. Grant funded, non-benefited position

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with three (3) years' experience and/or training in educational or career counseling, college registration, academic advising, career development, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience providing direct support to diverse student populations, preferably in a community college setting.
• Experience working with English Language learners strongly preferred.
• Ability to connect with and design and implement programming for dual enrollment students.
• Demonstrated data analysis skills.
• A strong commitment to diversity and social justice.
• Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
• Experience in higher education in an urban setting is preferred.
• Experience working with virtual and hybrid educational technologies preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
• Ability to travel between campuses, and off site location as needed. Ability to work virtually as needed.
• Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
