Founded in 1973, Woodstock Day School (WDS) is a progressive, independent school set on a 40-acre campus in New York’s Hudson Valley. Located midway between the towns of Woodstock and Saugerties and roughly two hours north of Manhattan, WDS is a board-certified member of the New York State Association of Independent Schools and offers a unique and inclusive educational experience to approximately 200 students from nursery school through grade twelve.

The Woodstock Day School (WDS) is seeking a full-time history and social studies teacher.
Additional expectations include attending staff meetings, in-service days including a week in August and a week after school ends in June, and to participate in the life
of the school. Faculty hours on campus are 8:00 am to 3:45 pm, with weekly staff meetings until 5 pm.
Ideal candidates embrace a range of pedagogical approaches, are excited about teaching in a progressive community and have demonstrated a commitment to addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within and outside the classroom.
Teaching a minimum four course load in Middle (6-8) school division. These classes may include: Ancient History, American history, Global history 1 and 2, American Government, and history electives, geography and civics, as well as some instruction in research and writing.
In addition, faculty are expected to participate in some school-wide events and have other duties and responsibilities assigned as needed. Faculty are also expected to meet with students on an individual basis.
As a full-time faculty member, this position also includes serving as an advisor for a small group of students in grades 6-12.

An undergraduate degree is required. A graduate degree in history, education and/or a relevant discipline is preferred.
A minimum of three years of teaching social studies and/or history at the secondary level.
