Assistant Dean - School of Continuing and Professional Studies (71100)Location: New York, NY
Description:The Assistant Dean is responsible for working with the Dean to inform, develop and oversee the implementation of guidelines and procedures concerning the delivery of SCPS programs, operations, technology and hiring of staff. They will work closely with the Dean, Program Directors, Marketing Director, Finance Director and operations staff in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies offers a broad array of professional development non-credit courses, workshops and certificate programs in areas art, design and architecture. Our full catalogue of current course offerings can be found at pratt.edu/scps . Classes and workshops vary in length from one day workshops to full semester courses.

Currently, this position is hybrid; however, in the Fall 2022 term will be mainly located in the Pratt Manhattan Center with the occasional need to travel to the Brooklyn campus. The Assistant Dean may be required to work evenings and to attend SCPS Information Sessions, Continuing Studies Instructor Orientation sessions and other events as needed.
Position Duties: -
Oversee a variety of operational aspects of SCPS including:
-
Enrollment, registration, evaluation and student services
-
Manage the front end, customer service aspect of the school
-
Technical issues and initiatives including leading all technology efforts involving tools and platforms that support the school
-
Documentation and implementation of policies and procedures
-
Reporting and data analysis for the division (internal and external) most specifically, but not limited to, enrollment
-
Serves as a liaison between the Marketing Director, the Director of Enrollment Management and the Program Directors on marketing collateral and website maintenance
-
Represent SCPS to all Institute divisions (IT, Admissions, Finance, Bursars, Registrar, etc)
-
Support the programming aspects of SCPS:
-
Collaborate with Program Directors and Assistants to streamline and enhance processes around advising, program policies, and content and admissions processes
-
Assist in coordinating all SCPS events in collaboration with the Dean's Office and the program development team
-
Address and resolve high-level faculty and student concerns/conflicts (approve all requests for refunds or withdrawals that fall outside the published policies)
-
Oversee the development and administration of all evaluations and surveys including processing, analyzing and communication of results
-
Assist the School's communication and marketing effort by:
-
Overseeing the proofing of all course data in marketing materials, Colleague and on the SCPS website, working closely with the Director of Marketing, Program Directors and Assistants, and the Institute's Office of Communications and Marketing

Developing and lead the rollover and production schedule each term
-
Assist the Dean to:
-
Develop and implement a strategic plan, mission and vision for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies
-
Represent the School in all internal and external events as needed
-
Develop and implement business plans as needed for new programs and certificates
-
Spearhead initiatives and plan School events as needed
-
Develop strong relationships with:
-
All internal SCPS team members, students and faculty/instructors
-
Pratt Institute support staff most specifically those in the Registrar's Office, Bursar's Office, Technology, Communications, Facilities Management and Public Safety
-
External vendors as they apply to SCPS operations including, but not limited to, Credly and any 3rd party registration vendors.

Additionally, the Assistant Dean will:
-
Set the annual academic calendar to ensure that work flow is on schedule for semester start dates and that all deadlines are achievable
-
Establish and oversee that best practices are maintained across the SCPS division
-
Oversee development and maintenance of the Staff handbook and the Faculty handbook
-
Coordinate and oversee progress on division wide projects as needed
Qualifications:Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent level of experience required. Masters degree preferred.
Experience: -
A minimum of five years experience in continuing education is required. An emphasis on both operations and programming is preferred.

A minimum of five years of supervisory experience leading a dynamic and diverse team
-
A minimum of three years leading a customer service staff is preferred
-
Strong technical background and comfortable working with new tools and technologies
-
Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive program for continuing and professional studies students.
-
Experience establishing goals and objectives that translate into growing a successful revenue-generating program.
-
Track record of motivating, developing, and mentoring professional and support staff
-
Ability to work well across departments within the Institution and evidence of strong external relationships.
Knowledge and Skills: -
Knowledge and best practices of continuing studies operations and metrics.
-
Data reporting and analysis skills
-
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, as well as demonstrate intercultural competence with an understanding of the importance of diversity in higher education.

Availability to travel and work evenings, as needed, is essential.
