Carnegie Mellon's Office of International Education (OIE) is committed to supporting, promoting and celebrating individuals in an intercultural environment. We advocate for and facilitate international and cross-cultural experiences, perspectives and initiatives. OIE promotes and coordinates study abroad and acts as a liaison to the university for international students, researchers and professors.
Carnegie Mellon University's OIE is searching for a Study Abroad Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment who will have an opportunity to advise students and contribute to the work of OIE.
Core responsibilities will include:
Student advising and programming: advise students about study abroad opportunities, assist with planning and implement and conduct programming in all stages of the education abroad process (pre-, during and post-) including in-bound programming; and conduct information sessions.
Immigration advising: advise international students/scholars on immigration, personal, and acculturation issues, including reviewing documentation & responding to requests for immigration documents and conducting/assisting with orientation programming.
Program administrative support: Engage in communication and outreach, including helping develop marketing materials for OIE programming, web development, social media and printed materials; engage in process and resource development; process registration/enrollment requests.
Office and university citizenship: Attend regular OIE meetings, serve as ARO/DSO signatory for F/J students & scholars, participate in orientation programming.
Work on special projects and programs (i.e. Pre-departure sessions, orientation programs, re-acculturation) related to student preparedness/acculturation/health & safety.
Engage in professional development through on and off campus opportunities and other duties as assigned in service to OIE, Enrollment Services and the broader Carnegie Mellon community.

At least 2 years' experience working in study abroad and/or advising is preferred.
