The College of Saint Rose invites applications and nominations for an Assistant Professor of Counseling in the Thelma P. Lally School of Education, beginning August 2022. This is a full time, tenure track position.
The Thelma P. Lally School of Education boasts thousands of alumni in educational and clinical settings throughout the world changing lives through expert teaching, therapy, counseling, and administration. After a successful site visit in the Fall of 2021, the Counseling program is pending CACREP accreditation.
Responsibilities will include teaching 12 credits (3 courses) per semester of graduate courses in Counseling from among the following courses:
CSL 554: Career Development CSL 528: Clinical Counseling Skills CSL 529: Tests, Measurement and Appraisal CSL 509: Practicum in School Counseling CSL 504: Organization and Collaboration in School Counseling Programs CSL 511: Counseling Children and Adolescents in the Schools
Additionally, responsibilities include contributing to the continuing development and refinement of the Counseling program, engaging in scholarship, attending internal and external events applicable to the College and the candidate's academic discipline, academic advising, program assessment, curriculum development, and participation in Department, School, and College committees.
The successful candidate will have:
(a) a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited institution or
b) a doctoral degree in a related academic field and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a graduate counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year prior to July 1, 2013.
An ABD from a CACREP-accredited institution in Counselor Education will be considered if the degree will be completed within 1 year from date of appointment.
The successful candidate for this position must have: a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching college-level students in a traditional or online classroom environment; experience with children and adolescents in a K-12 setting; demonstrated evidence of a multicultural and social justice worldview as evidenced by scholarship and/or experience working with, and/or advocating for underserved populations and, if selected to advance, a successful demonstration of teaching ability and scholarship during the on campus interview.
NCC, school counseling certification, licensed professional counselor, and/or other counseling credential, or eligibility to obtain school counselor certification and/or mental health licensure within one year of appointment.
