Director or Assistant Dean of Student Affairs - (210001MQ)
The Francis King Carey School of Law is seeking a Director or Assistant Dean of Student Affairs . The incumbent provides development, enhancement, and guidance for multiple functions relating to the student experience and collaborates with other departments to ensure delivery of high-quality student support and services. This position serves as the School of Law's representative in campus-wide student affairs groups, initiatives, related programming, and policy deliberations.

Provide strategic direction and vision for the law school's student affairs operations.
Supervise and manage day-to-day operations and workflow of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
Assume primary responsibility for individual student counseling for distressed students.
Work closely with leadership of the Student Bar Association.
Serve as a member of the Dean's senior administrative team.
Oversee the implementation of accommodations for our ADA students and serve as liaison to University Office of Educational Support and Disability Services.
In consultation with other OSA staff, plan, develop, and implement student Leadership activities, including coordinating faculty and senior administration participation.
In consultation with other OSA staff and the law school's events team, plan, and coordinate graduation events.
Collaborate with the Office of Admissions and the Office of Academic Affairs to plan and coordinate orientation activities for all incoming JD (1st year, transfer, and visiting) and LLM students.
Plan academic advising, wellness, and other programs for current students.
Work with Admissions staff on "Welcome Nights" and other pre-enrollment activities.
Oversee administration of policies for student co-curricular activities.
Coordinate outreach and support to incoming transfer or visiting students.
Oversee student Peer Advisor program.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for Director:
Bachelor's degree. Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school preferred.
Seven (7) years of progressive experience working with students.
Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Dean:
Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
Ten (10) years of experience in law or higher education with at least three (3) years of experience in management or leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of best practices in student affairs.
Strong counseling skills and experience.
Leadership and team building skills.
Excellent computer skills to include automated student information systems.
Must possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision.
Leadership, coaching, and teambuilding skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships.
Willingness to confer, communicate and collaborate with multiple law school and UMB constituencies.
