About the Opportunity: The Northeastern University College of Professional Studies invite applications from qualified individuals to provide graduate and undergraduate students a personalized academic and career coaching experience from the point of admission through graduation and beyond. Each coach will partner with an assigned caseload of students to facilitate the development of an academic and professional development plan that incorporates intentional career planning and exploration, experiential learning, and engagement with networks and communities.
Responsibilities: 40% - Academic and Student Support
Actively manage a caseload of students from point of admission through program completion.
Monitor student progress through adherence to the established communication and contact plan
Connect with students using multiple modalities and in ways tailored to their preferences for communication
Engage in effective practices in academic and career advising.
Advocate for students while enforcing institutional policies and regulations
Work as a member of the advising and career planning team to support and provide coverage, as possible and appropriate, for the ongoing day and evening operations of on ground offices in Boston and/or the regional campuses.
Communicate regularly with students through various mediums to provide guidance and support in areas related to academics, career, and experiential education
Respond to student inquiries from point of contact to resolution; follow up on referral
Process in a timely fashion official paperwork related to students' academic study including changes of major, transfer credit, petitions to amend degree requirements and petitions to graduate
Liaise between the student and the University community working collegially with other offices and departments to ensure student service functions are performed in an efficient and consistent manner
Make appropriate referrals to on campus and off campus services as appropriate to student need
Track students who become academically inactive; reach out to these students to encourage resumption of studies
Monitor a large and complex population of F1 professional studies learners to ensure that they remain in compliance. This includes ongoing academic advising, providing information about compliance guidelines, monitoring schedules, reporting outcomes and maintaining a close partnership with colleagues in the Office of Global Services and other key stakeholders.
15% - Assessment and Data
Maintain up-to-date notes and record keeping of each student meeting including tracking of student academic progress and outcomes using the College CRM system
Assess, collect and report student data as they pertain to student persistence, retention and satisfaction
Participate in unit or College assessment efforts, including the development of benchmarks for progress
Maintain consistency and compliance within ADA, FERPA, SEVIS, and other state, federal, University and College of Professional Studies guidelines
30% - Customized Career Planning
As subject matter experts develop and consistently refine personalized, customized professional development plans responsive to articulated academic and career goals, skills, and abilities. Components of a personalized plan include:
Academic pathway guide consistent with student's desired progression to degree/program completion Development of Career Action Plans
Experiential learning plan that identifies opportunities for students to apply classroom learning in order to refine career goals
Community engagement plan that delineates opportunities for students to participate in relevant affinity groups regardless of modality of learning, e.g., on ground or virtual
Building a personal network
Interdisciplinary experiences with students across colleges and Global Network campuses
Administer and interpret career assessments to inform professional development plan
Match learners with experiential opportunities to strengthen their skills, build authentic experience, and apply their learning in collaboration with employers
Facilitate campus-based and virtual skills workshops, events, meet-ups, industry mentors, etc. to help students meet their goals. Develop PDP activities with colleges, graduates campuses and local partners to address student and local community needs
15% - Program development
Design and deliver programs to support the unique needs of students in caseload, including workshops, webinars, etc. that enhance and add value to the student experience in areas related to student academic and career success.
Participate in and contribute to the content and delivery of new student orientation.
Stay abreast of research and effective practices in academic and student affairs to propose ideas to better serve students
Participate as an active member of professional associations related to academic advising and career services.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a master's degree (or equivalent work experience) and have a track record of strong academic and professional performance. Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years professional experience, characterized by increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in an academic or student affairs/student services environment or in HR/ corporate recruiting/ or related area; Experience in a service or leadership role such as an academic advisor/counselor/ coach/ human resources/client or customer service professional or similar capacity preferred. The successful candidate will have a passion for educating and supporting students in a higher education environment, demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students (particularly adult learners, international students, and online learners) and knowledge of professional development and career advising practice. Hold professional certifications in related fields will be considered a plus.
Candidates will serve students studying in Boston, Charlotte, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and online, and are sought in both these locations and nationally.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced work environment, with demonstrated ability and comfort to efficaciously handle multiple tasks and projects;
Proficient in the use Microsoft Office Suite tools products;
Certification (or be willing to obtain such certification) in one or more areas directly related to the work of the position or one's professional field, such as MBTI, Strenghtsquest, etc.
