Collegiate School seeks a Lower School Assistant Head to work closely with the division members to maintain continuity between Collegiate’s mission statement and the experience of each learner. The Lower School Assistant Head assists the Lower School Head in all operations for grades JK - 4, including student progress monitoring, faculty evaluation and supporting families. The Assistant Head must be confident in supporting teachers and parents, highly organized, an excellent communicator and have a collaborative spirit. The Lower School Assistant Head will support the creation of a dynamic learning environment for students in grades JK-4 and the implementation of plans and policies consistent with the School’s mission.
This position reports to the Head of Lower School for supervision, guidance and support. This position will also work closely with the other Assistant Head, Counselors, Team Leaders and colleagues throughout the School to ensure successful collaboration in supporting Lower School students and their families.
General Responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
Develop and maintain relationships and systems that increase collaboration among students, parents and other appropriate personnel on issues related to student progress
Monitor student progress in academic, social and emotional areas through data collection, progress reports, assessments, and standardized testing in 3rd and 4th Grades
Oversee progress reports and overall student data
Guide and monitor the schoolwide discipline approach: work with individual students, teachers and families
Support the social and emotional growth of students, and wellness in the whole division
Provide oversight for the Academic Services Department along with the other Assistant Head
Work closely with Head of Lower School to coordinate student events
Oversee day to day operations in several key areas
Meet regularly with faculty to discuss student progress
Work in conjunction with Head of Lower School and Parents’ Association to provide meaningful faculty and student activities and parent education that tie to the School’s mission
Work closely with Lower School Administration to provide support for curricular and professional development activities

Knowledge of Current Best Practices in JK and Elementary Instruction
Enthusiasm for professional growth
Master’s Degree, preferably in early or elementary childhood education
Demonstrated experience in Early or Elementary Childhood Education Administration preferred with a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in an elementary education setting
