The Support Services Team in Computing Services provides technical customer support for all campus constituents including the helpdesk, faculty/staff computing, Residential Network (ResNet), campus computer labs and technology-enabled classrooms. This position is both a functional manager position, providing leadership and supervision to the Support Services Team, and also a hands-on technical position, providing support for campus computers and various IT systems.
This is a twelve-month exempt, at will, full-time position reporting to the CIO/Executive Director of Infrastructure and Resources.
Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities):
Provide active supervision and effectively communicate with team members by holding and facilitating weekly team status meetings and one-on-one meetings with team members on a regular basis.
Maintain, update, and review Support Services’ strategic planning items and the team’s project list on a regular basis to ensure goal completion.
Meet regularly with the Chief Information Officer and other team leads in order to keep CIO and other team leads abreast of specific issues and ensure the individual team goals support the mission and vision of the Computing Services Department.
Provide input into the departmental strategic plan, lead and participate in appropriate Technology Research and Implementation Proposals (TRIPS), and provide strategic, budgetary, and resource planning recommendations to the CIO.
Actively participate in the IT Governance structure by attending IT Governance meetings as needed, acting as an IT Liaison on relevant projects, and supporting the Faculty Technology Advisory Committee (FTAC) and Administrative Technology Advisory Committee (ATAC) as an ex-officio member when needed.
Act as a point of contact for the department as appropriate to support campus communications and take the initiative to resolve associated issues as they arise.
Provide specific and documented feedback on team members’ job performances to support performance appraisal and management processes.
Actively observe the performance and behavior of team members and provide appropriate mentoring and coaching to correct problem behaviors and assist team members with professional development.
In coordination with the CIO, provide overall direction of team goals, and implement those goals at the team level.
Manage team budgets and purchases, including keeping accurate, up-to-date records and supporting documentation pertaining to departmental and campus equipment and software purchases.
Perform strategic planning and budgeting for the student labs and TEC classrooms, including the refreshing of equipment in the labs and TEC Classrooms.
Explore new technologies to enhance the functionality of the labs and TEC classrooms.
Provide support for all Apple Macintosh computers on campus, and backup support for the other Support Services team members as needed.
Manage licensing for the labs and TEC Classrooms.
In coordination with the Support Services Team and the Systems Administration Team, provide support for various IT systems, such as the campus security camera system, lock system, and other systems deployed on campus.
Coordinate the collection and utilization of relevant support metrics for the various areas of Support Services in order to improve overall level of customer service and satisfaction.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, CSCI or related field. Related work experience may be considered as a substitute for the Bachelor’s degree requirement.
Minimum of 5 years professional work experience in an IT field with demonstrated increasing levels of professional, technical, and supervisory responsibility.
Demonstrated technical abilities and leadership in a support services team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with diverse campus perspectives and constituencies.
Extensive experience with implementing cross-functional and intra-departmental projects and systems.
Knowledge of current trends, ideas and resources in the support services area of higher education.
Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.
Ability to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to remain poised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
Conditions of Employment:
The position is a full-time, 12-month exempt at-will administrative position with benefits.
Salary and Benefits:
$63,500-72,000 annually; salary is commensurate with education, qualification, and experience. Adams State University offers a competitive benefits package.
