Summary Description: The Assistant Vice President of Student Success & Engagement/Dean of Students is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting to the Vice President for Student Success and Engagement (VPSSE). This role will provide strategic leadership and support to student engagement initiatives within the Student Success and Engagement division. As a part of the new division and its reorganizations efforts to Student Success and Engagement, the AVP/Dean of Students will serve as an advocate for students and the student voice in University decisions that directly affect students' education and overall well-being. This role will also be responsible for the day to day activities in the absence of the VPSSE. The AVP/Dean of Students will participate in the development and implementation of student policies and procedures and is the point of contact and facilitator for the CARE Team. The AVP/Dean of Students coordinates and implements divisional initiatives such as staff development, assessment, strategic planning, oversee external grants, community partnerships and other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Success and Engagement.
Primary Job Duties:
Direct oversight of SSE unit leaders who have responsibilities for engaging students including but not limited to: Associate Dean of Students, Student Engagement and Activities Coordinator, etc.
Oversees planning and implementation of large scale student related events.
Collaborates with Student Success (retention) departments and other campus partners, provide strategic vision, planning, and assessment of equity and engagement efforts within SSE, including the co-curricular and extra-curricular student services in and around the community.
Support planning, implementation, and assessment of programs and student outcomes for all reporting offices.
Serve as co-advisor for Student Government.
Oversee budget development and fiscal management in all supervision areas.
Maintain a productive working relationship with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, CFO, IT, Human Resources, Campus Safety, and others.
Serve as Student Judicial Officer/Title IX deputy coordinator for the campus and oversee the management of information concerning student judicial process, including statistical reports and revisions to the Code of Student Conduct.
Respond to emergency/crisis situations as needed.
Provide oversight and coordination of Student Success and Engagement policies, procedures, and emergency protocols. Advise other staff and faculty on appropriate actions to ensure student safety.
Engage in continual data and assessment driven recommendations for improvement and in a collaborative leadership role with other departments and divisions.
Oversee and maintain the Student Success and Engagement website and other student facing communication tools such as: MobileUp, text messaging, etc.
Serve as a member of Retention and Student Success and Engagement committee, as appointed.
Supervise departmental budgets.
Participate in and contribute to regular Student Success and Engagement staff meetings.
Collaborate with the Vice President for Student Success and Engagement and others as appropriate to the program and/or initiative.
Assist the VPSSE in the development of divisional strategic and operational plans, in support of the Vice President. Contribute thought leadership, as requested, to institutional strategic planning and engagement master planning.
Oversee and/or handle crisis intervention with student emergencies and campus wide situations and in support of the Crisis Response Team.
Develop and coordinate policies and procedures relative to all student activities; oversee annual production of student related communication and other documents such as the Student Handbook.
Create timely, consistent, responsive, and effective communication to students, faculty, and staff concerning the activities and events within SSE.
Practice regular collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across program areas on all campuses.
Be present in the office on a daily basis unless arrangements are made with the employee’s direct supervisor.
Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
Participate in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.
Adhere to University policies and procedures.

Master’s degree in higher education, organizational leadership, or applicable field.
Seven or more years of relevant, progressive experience in higher education is required.
Significant experience directly supporting and advocating for marginalized communities in higher education
Appropriate supervisory experience.
Experience serving as a student judicial officer.
Excellence in effective oral and written communication, public presentations and customer service.
Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.
Ability to multitask with accuracy in order to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
Tech Savvy - Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the willingness and ability to learn additional tech-related tools such as Dropbox, Basecamp, CRM software, social media tools (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube, and Hootsuite), Smartsheet, and the Campus’ Information System (Colleague).

Doctoral degree preferred.
Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish).
Experience in both student development programming and auxiliary enterprises is preferred
