The College of Arts and Letters is home to the Department of Economics at San Diego State University. It is the University's cornerstone college, producing a quarter of the total credit hours generated by the University and providing the core liberal arts courses required for all of SDSU's bachelor's degrees. With over two hundred permanent faculty and many associated lecturers, the College of Arts and Letters is the largest of the seven colleges at San Diego State University.
The Administrative Support Assistant will provide clerical and administrative support for the faculty and for the undergraduate and graduate advisors, as well as provide backup support and assistance for the Administrative Coordinator. As the Graduate Admissions Coordinator, this position disseminates a wide variety of information regarding instructional programs, procedures, and deadlines to students, faculty, and the public. This position assists with marketing and communication efforts including social media platforms and designing brochures, flyers, and newsletters.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Specialized Skills Required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Experience working in a university setting
Customer service experience in an office setting
Experience greeting and communicating instructions and information to customers
Experience with basic graphics program
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,912 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,912 - $3,829 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
