Under the leadership of the Associate Dean for Administration, the Assistant Dean, Engineering and Computer Science Information Technology Operations (ECS-ITO) is responsible for effective, efficient and secure delivery of IT infrastructure, application development, system support, operations, and cloud services to the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. This position ensures that the school's technology infrastructure and procedures adhere to appropriate life cycle management, information security, standardization and modernization. This leadership role manages successful outcomes of programs and services ranging from IT infrastructure to complex operating model enhancements and process improvements. As a key member of the University's Federated IT team and the CIO's IT Advisory Committee, this role will collaborate closely with research computing, academic computing, and Information Security.
Minimum of a Graduate degree in a discipline related to the job function; minimum of five years of management experience in an academic environment or equivalent corporate environment. If this position has direct instructional responsibilities it will require a doctorate degree.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masters Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or equivalent degree(s) with proven experience in supporting an academic infrastructure or research institution
10+ total years' experience with 5 years of management experience in large IT organization. At least 5 years in a management/leadership role
Proven experience in providing IT operational standards and procedures for an IT organization
Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective
Proven track record that demonstrates effectiveness and efficiency in IT investments and management
Proven leadership of technology professionals with an emphasis on maintaining a mission focus
Strong project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical users. Expected to interact with executive leaders and client customers on a regular basis.
Strong interpersonal and consensus-building skills
Successful applicants will be team player who understand how to run a customer facing/interactive Information Technology department and provide leadership to a growing team of IT professionals
Ability to lead, manage, and deal with ambiguity in a dynamic and growing research community
