This position will be hired at the Information Systems Analyst 1 or Information Systems Analyst 2 level depending on experience of the selected candidate.

Under supervision, the incumbent will be performing research in behavioral genetics in mice, rats and humans within the Department of Psychiatry. The primary focus area of this position is within the Center for Genetic Studies on Drug Abuse in Outbred Rats (ratgenes.org). The main responsibility is to assist in performing sequence analysis and genotyping. This includes executing established pipelines using Bash scripting and software such as PLINK, GCTA, STITCH and IMPUTE2; performing routine quality control for data inputs and analysis outputs, assisting with data organization and backup. The main responsibility is to assist in performing programming and analysis for genetic analysis. Perform routine quality control for data inputs and analysis outputs. Execute standardized queries for PosgreSQL database. Assist with data organization and backup.
Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area.
Basic knowledge of several areas of IT. Linux, Windows, High Performance Computing, cloud technologies such as Amazon EC2.
Basic knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Linux-based workflow development, including Bash scripting. Experience in developing multistep analysis pipelines/workflows using scripting languages.
Proven ability to install software and troubleshoot basic problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Basic understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
Basic understanding of data management operations and database administration.
Basic knowledge of computer security best practices and policies. Ability to put knowledge into practice.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
Experience in handling big data sets, experience in programming languages, including R/Python.
Ability to program and maintain automated data collection, data quality control and data storage systems.
Ability to report and reconcile on data collected and effectively present to necessary team members.
Ability to backup and restore data to prevent data loss.
Ability to perform database maintenance operations for multiple projects.
Experience writing programming code, most commonly using SQL and R/ Python, to create database processes.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Experience or academic courses in molecular biology, genetics, or computation biology.
Experience in using software revision control systems (e.g. GIT).
