The Anesthesiology Research Lab was organized in 1989 to perform investigations into pharmacology and physiology of systems relevant to anesthesia and analgesia and establishes contract research in areas of developed expertise. This group has a long and active history of investigation, both preclinical and clinical, into new technologies and drug development. The strength of the group is its high level of scientific competence and its proven contract organization.
Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for undertaking research projects in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI) and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the molecular biology and immunohistochemistry laboratory and cell culture facility. The Research Associate will perform histology techniques including tissue cutting (microtome and cryostat), mounting, immunohistochemical staining, and routine analysis. Incumbent will use a confocal laser scanning microscope and epi-fluorescent microscope and obtain images for analysis. Research Associate will perform Western and cell culture protocols in neural tissue and in primary and established cell lines. Incumbent will prepare study protocols, reports and data analysis using Excel/Prism or equivalent programs for grant and sponsor funded projects.
