*NOTE: Salaries for internal candidates are determined by the State of New Jersey and AFT, AFL-CIO Agreement and will follow promotional calculations as outlined in the bargaining unit agreement.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time, 10-month September through June, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee’s regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of the Cahill Career Development Center, the Assistant Director/Career Advisor for the Pathways Program provides support for and coordination of Pathways courses and programming; provides career development and graduate/professional school advising for students; and conducts career development workshops.
Serve as primary liaison to Registrar’s office to ensure all Pathways classes are scheduled each semester and to the Provost’s office to ensure Instructor contracts are completed and submitted.
Serve as lead instructor for Pathways Module 1 course and co-instructor for Pathways Modules 2 and 3 courses.
Assist Contemporary Arts Career Advisor with Cooperative Education program administration in Handshake for 50+ students per term.
Serve as co-moderator for the HGS Alumni Student Mentoring Program.
Provide individual and group career advising for students and alumni. Assist students with career exploration, co-ops/internships, employment, and graduate/professional school preparation activities.
Develop and present career workshops for students, alumni, clubs/organizations, faculty, classes, and staff as requested.
Utilize Handshake (career management system) to disseminate information, schedule student appointments, review/approve documents, and manage events and programs.
Represent Unit at college-wide events and serve on assigned college committees as needed.
Support Career Center activities and programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college with a Master’s degree in a related field.
Three years, professional experience in an institution of higher education, education, or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position.
Preferred experience in career development, advising, and programming.
