Reporting Responsibilities: The Women’s Golf Coach reports to the Athletic Director.
As an integral member of the Athletic program, the Women’s Golf Coach is primarily responsible for coaching and instructing the Women’s Golf team of Spartanburg Methodist College. The Coach also recruits and manages this team in accordance with the rules of the NCJAA and the mission and values of Spartanburg Methodist College and serves as an advisor to the Athletic Director in all issues pertaining to the Women’s Golf team. The Coach must execute all the responsibilities of this position with unfailing integrity, a commitment to excellence and an emphasis on the academic success and growth of the student-athletes in the program.
• Plan and implement a program of intercollegiate Women’s Golf in accord with the standards and goals set by the College. • Train and develop student-athletes into a Women’s Golf team of at least 10 women to represent the College with skill and sportsmanship. • Develop and implement strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team. • Instruct student-athletes on personal and athletic development, including counseling team members in academic and disciplinary matters, when appropriate. • Work closely with all College departments to advance student-athlete academic progress and potential. • Schedule and conduct training of student-athletes during regular practice sessions. • Create long-term player development plans for the technical, tactical, and physical development for individual members of the team. • Oversee conditioning and training of student-athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Trainer to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for competition. • Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes. • Develop a recruitment plan with the Admissions Office and Financial Aid Office to attract excellent student-athletes to meet the recruiting goals of the College and participate fully in implementing the plan. • Schedule games, practice times, facility, and vehicle usage. • Participate in fundraising efforts that benefit the athletic programs of the College. • Supervise all aspects of the work of volunteer coaches. • Attend staff meetings involving members of the Athletic Department. • Attend games and provides support to other coaches. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and President of the College. • Manage the budget for the Women’s Golf program.

Knowledge of and ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the College, Region 10 and the NJCAA.

Work is performed outdoors. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will work a schedule set by the needs of the position. The coach will be required to travel with the team.
Required Physical Abilities:
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, and move around the campus.
Manual and physical dexterity and visual acuity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on a computer display screen, in hand written form, and printed on paper.
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by

Education & Experience:
Education: Master's Degree preferred, Bachelor's (or Bachelor's in progress) accepted.
Experience: Coaching experience at the college level or participation in intercollegiate athletics.
